HISTORY OF THE URBAN PALACE IN THE COUNCIL OF AROUSA

This unique building was conceived from the outset as a private residence for its owners, as a symbol of their social status that has housed numerous historical figures.

The Pazo is an important example of this type of genuinely Galician architecture, which, unlike the more abundant rural pazos in Galicia, is located in an urban centre, in one of the parishes of Villagarcía de Arosa.

The building dates from the 16th century, although numerous reforms have been carried out over the centuries. Built in ashlar stone, it has a total constructed area of 1,700 m² on 2 floors plus the attic. The 3-storey square tower stands out, attached to one side of the building, a symbol of the strength and power of its inhabitants. The cantilevered balcony on beams on the main façade and the gargoyles that run along the cornice are ornamental elements of the building's prestige.

On the back façade, there is a garden area of about 300 m², with large ornamental trees, the characteristic "cruceiro" and an old stone fountain. Separated by a road, there is a second garden of about 1,000 m², surrounded by a large stone wall, with century-old trees and numerous varieties of plants.

The interior of the Pazo has also maintained its essence as a noble residence or palace house, with large wooden coffered ceilings, spacious rooms, and luxurious decoration in most of its rooms.

At present, the property requires some updating, although it has been kept habitable. It has 12 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, kitchens and a service area as well as numerous living rooms and a large stone kitchen where you can admire the traditional "Lareira".

It is undoubtedly an exclusive property with a magnificent history that is also located in a small urban centre by the sea, which has an excellent offer of leisure, culture and gastronomy in the wonderful region of the Rías Baixas, just 3 km from Vilagarcía de Arousa, 30 from Pontevedra and 60 km from Vigo.
